Robert Klingon
Robert Klingon joined SVR as a partner in June 2006 while establishing a private litigation and small business counseling practice. Prior to that, Mr. Klingon practiced law at some of New York City’s most prestigious firms over the past twenty years, including Jones Day, Sive Paget & Riesel, and Cravath Swaine & Moore. Mr. Klingon has represented large and small clients in litigation, counseling, and transactional settings over a broad range of subjects, including corporate governance, environmental issues, employment, intellectual property, commercial disputes, international business, bankruptcy, securities, antitrust, and international trade.
Before joining Cravath Swaine & Moore, Robert clerked for the Honorable Evan Wallach of the U.S. Court of International Trade. Prior to that position, Mr. Klingon was the Director of Strategic Planning and Development at the Coro Eastern Center, a nonprofit public affairs leadership training institute. In that capacity, he directed strategy, new program development, budgeting, and special event fundraising while also serving as general counsel. After law school, Mr. Klingon clerked for the Honorable Procter Hug of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit before joining Jones Day.
Mr. Klingon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Amherst College and a Juris Doctor from the University of California School of Law (Boalt Hall). Mr. Klingon has also served the Federal Bar Association in a variety of volunteer capacities, including Chairman of the national Younger Lawyers Division and Vice President for the Second Circuit region. He played a leading role in developing two successive strategic plans for the national organization and its local affiliates.
