Tom Dale is an investment banker with over 17 years of experience advising and financing growth-oriented companies. He has advised on over 125 transactions aggregating $67 billion in value. These include M&A, public and private equity financings, various forms of public and private debt financings, strategic partnerships and derivative-based monetizations. His experience encompasses numerous international and cross-border transactions. In 2002, Tom formed Stony Brook Capital, a financial advisory firm focused on emerging growth companies. Stony Brook Capital has advised companies in the Telecommunications, Media and Business Services industries engaged in merger, restructuring, financing and strategic partnering transactions ranging in size from $2 million to $75 million.
Prior to this, Tom served as a managing director with Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown in New York, where he built and led a successful practice focused on the Wireless Telecommunications industry. Under his guidance, within three years, Deutsche Bank became the third largest underwriter of equity and high yield debt for North American wireless communications companies, working with AT&T Wireless, Nextel, VoiceStream and many regional players. Tom also advised on numerous innovative cross-border M&A transactions ranging from $25 million to several billion dollars in size. Within this effort, Tom established a leading franchise supporting the growth of emerging wireless data technology companies such as Aether Systems, i3 Mobile and TeleCommunications Systems on a global basis.
Tom was a senior founding member of the Telecommunications Investment Banking group of PaineWebber where he was involved in strategic and financing transactions for emerging companies capitalizing on deregulation trends in the mid-1990s. Prior to this, Tom gained significant experience at PaineWebber in other industries where that firm had developed strong banking franchises, such as Energy, Health Care, Technology, Media and Specialty Retailing.
Prior to PaineWebber, Tom served as a founding member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of Chase Manhattan. Tom holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School and a B.A. with Distinction from the University of Virginia.
