Charles Corry joins SVR after serving as Chairman and CEO of a micro-brewery in the Czech Republic. In 1998 he financed the purchase of the niche business, Pivovar Herold, a.s. and oversaw the entire business until 2004. Charles was responsible for all aspects of product development and international sales. After generating $5 million in revenue, he sold the company to a private equity fund and left the firm. Prior to taking over Pivovar Herold, Charles worked as an investment banker in Central and Eastern Europe, evaluating and bringing to market many SMEs.
Charles has a strong technical background in economics, strategic planning, project management and evaluation. His entrepreneurial experiences have provided a strong appreciation for the enormous impact that small businesses and start-ups have on the US and global economies. Charles focuses on external metrics for strategic planning and the internal metrics of operations, especially as it relates to the infusion of new capital. His past clients have included start-ups, service companies, and food industry companies. Charles has direct experience that relate to the issues facing small and medium-sized businesses seeking financing.
Before joining the private sector, Charles was responsible for program and project management of US foreign aid. He served as a consultant for the US Government and the OECD, evaluating projects and programs. Charles also had an appointment to the office of the Secretary General (CCEET) of the OECD to support a special program focused on post-communist economies.
Charles is skilled in strategic analysis, knowledge-driven planning, budget and program management, BPM and evaluation methods, hands-on operations management, small organization finance, sales and marketing, and international policy and trade. He speaks Romance and Slavic languages. He is a graduate of Harvard College.
